Project: The mechanisms and aetiology of contact lens related papillary conjunctivitis
One of the most significant adverse events seen with contact lens wear is contact lens induced papillary conjunctivitis (CLPC). CLPC is an inflammation of the upper eyelid characterized by enlarged papillae, hyperaemia of the upper eyelid and excessive mucus in the tear film, and it is one of the major reasons that patients discontinue lens wear.
