New African Vision (8/29/2005)
Blindness prevention in Africa has been given a major boost from across the globe with the establishment of the African Vision Research Institute (AVRI) with the support of Australian organisations - the International Centre for Eyecare Education (ICEE) and the Institute for Eye Research, core partners of the Vision CRC. Tears for Fresh Scientist (8/22/2005)
New understanding of tears developed by a Vision CRC student may bring relief to the millions of people who suffer from ’dry eye ’. Sophia Tragoulias won the opportunity to be one of 13 scientists who are presenting their research to the public for the first time through the national ’Fresh Science ’ Program. Full Story

Prize for Vision Care Delivery invention (8/22/2005)
The portable retinal camera captures digital images of the retina of the eye, and has been designed for vision screening in remote and developing areas. Being developed as part of the Vision CRC’s Vision Care Delivery program, the camera recently won its appearance on ABC television’s New Inventors show. Full Story
