First Antti Vannas Fellow (12/15/2008)
The Antti Vannas Fellowship was initiated in 2006 to honour the contributions of Professor Antti Vannas to science and eye research. Finnish ophthalmologist, Dr Jukka Moilanen, arrives in Australia this month to take up the inaugural Fellowship, taking Antti’s work on the surgical correction of refractive error to a new level. One third of Aussies risking blindness (2/10/2008)
For World Sight Day 2008 (Oct 9) a national survey was commissioned by Vision 2020 Australia and its 59 member organisations, which include the Vision CRC and core partners IER, ICEE and CERA. This survey found that almost one third of Australians incorrectly believe they should wait until they have symptoms before getting their eyes tested. Full Story

Students leading the way (2/9/2008)
The CRC Leadership and Innovation course was established to help CRC
students to develop an understanding of leadership, how to work effectively with others, and the essentials of successful R&D. Each year the Vision CRC offers one of their students the opportunity to attend the course, and Fabian Conrad recently returned from the 2008 event. Full Story

International Fellowship Award Winner to join Vision CRC (3/6/2008)
The Vision CRC myopia project will soon have the addition of a winning graduate. Biomedical engineering graduate Stephanie Marie Delgado, from the University of Miami, was awarded a prestigious 2008 Whitaker International Fellowship, to support a one year research experience at the Vision CRC and Institute for Eye Research. Is it safe to wear these contact lenses? (5/19/2008)
New contact lenses worn overnight and removed to give clear daytime vision are becoming popular, but reports of increased infection rates have made patients wary. The Accommodation Club (4/17/2008)
The 6th meeting of the Accommodation Club will be held at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute after the 2008 Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology meeting.
