IACLE in Asia Pacific (9/15/2006)
The Asia Pacific Regional Meeting held by the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (IACLE) in India in August was a great success. “We feel it is one of the most successful IACLE meetings held to date and hope that our members gained as much from it as we did”, said Professor Deborah Sweeney, President of IACLE and CEO of Vision CRC. VAAP & EPEP Program – China/Hong Kong - June 2006 (8/16/2006)
ICEE Professional Education went to China in June 2006 to conduct the Varilux Academy Asia Pacific (VAAP) programs. In total, 146 practitioners attended VAAP, and another 80 practitioners were present to observe the program. Full Story

Vannas Foundation launched to promote international, interdisciplinary eye research (7/13/2006)

Helsinki was the location for the launch of the Vannas Fellowship to promote international interdisciplinary eye research. The Fellowship has been established to celebrate and honour the contributions to science and eye research of Professor Antti Vannas. Full Story

New Executive Director of Education (5/31/2006)
We are pleased to announce that Associate Professor Fiona Stapleton has accepted the position of Executive Director of Education at the Vision CRC. Fiona joined the CRC as a Senior Researcher in 1995 and became Director of Postgraduate Education in 2000, and now adds the area of Professional Education to her existing responsibilities. Full Story

Looking to make an impact (12/5/2006)
Research from the Centre for Eye Research Australia and Vision CRC is shaping the future of Australian eyecare. The research was used in the 2005 “National Framework for Action to Promote Eye Health and Prevent Avoidable Blindness and Vision Loss”, and it will be presented at the CRC Association 2006 Conference by Associate Professor Jill Keeffe this week.
