Education builds contact lens business (12/5/2006)
Contact lens education from the Vision CRC is expanding UK eyecare practices. New figures show that there has been a 66% uplift in sales for those attending the Global Contact Lens Education Program (GCLEP) last year. Professor Deborah Sweeney will speak about these results at the Cooperative Research Centres Association Conference in Brisbane this week. Full Story

Postgraduate Reviews (4/27/2006)
This week the Vision CRC has hosted the Postgraduate Conference week for the CRC and the UNSW School of Optometry and Vision Science.
Thirty students from around Australia and overseas visited Vision CRC headquarters to meet other research staff and students, and present their latest work to the review panel and Vision CRC researchers. Full Story

Humanitarian Award from Middle Eastern Ophthalmology (7/4/2006)
An Australian academic has been awarded a humanitarian award by a Middle Eastern ophthalmology society. The "Prince Abdulaziz Bin Ahmad Shield for the Prevention of Blindness" was presented to Professor Brien Holden at the Saudi Ophthalmology 2006 International Symposium last week. Full Story

Portable Eyecare (6/4/2006)
A new instrument designed to provide eyecare in remote areas is starting trials in hospital clinics this month. The portable retinal camera is a low cost instrument for taking digital photographs of the back of the eye. The camera has been designed by Greg Koennecke of Vision Instruments, in collaboration with the Vision CRC’s Vision Care Delivery program. Full Story

Scholarship Graduate (9/1/2006)
The first recipient of the Brien A Holden Scholarship has just graduated. Percy Lazon de la Jara was awarded a PhD from the University of New South Wales in December for his thesis: Quality of life and vision after LASIK. Full Story

LVPEI hosts international meetings (12/14/2005)
