GCLEP Update (11/30/2005)
The second phase of the Global Contact Lens Education Program (GCLEP) was held in the United Kingdom (Manchester, London, Leeds, Glasgow, Gatwick and Dublin) in September. The program was developed and conducted by the Vision CRC and the Centre for Contact Lens Research. Full Story

Rural Hero Gives Sight (11/28/2005)
An optometrist providing eyecare to some of Australia’s most remote Aboriginal communities was named as the "Rural Hero" of Western Australia in this year’s Australian of the Year Awards, presented on Saturday 26 November. Margie O’Neill was nominated by ICEE, who have supported Margie’s important work. Full Story

Take care with contacts (11/21/2005)
Contact lens users are urged to be vigilant following findings from the largest contact lens study ever held in Australia and New Zealand, conducted by a collaboration of the Vision CRC, Institute for Eye Research and Cornea & Contact Lens Research Unit.
A campaign on safe contact lens use is now being launched by the group with Sydney Eye Hospital. Full Story

Myopia Meeting (11/16/2005)
The latest in myopia research is being highlighted at a meeting held at the LV Prasad Eye Institute in India in November. The Vision CRC Myopia Meeting brings together groups from around the world to examine the causes and prevention of shortsightedness.
More and more people each year are affected by myopia, or short-sightedness. Research at the Vision CRC aims to tackle the growing myopia epidemic. Full Story

Lederer Award (3/11/2005)
Professor Brien Holden is the 2005 recipient of the Josef Lederer Award for Excellence in Optometry, presented by the Optometrists Association Australia (NSW Division)in recognition of the contribution made by Professor Holden to the advancement of optometry and the optometric profession. Minister for Health visit (9/13/2005)
The Vision CRC was visited recently by The Hon Tony Abbott, Australian Federal Minister for Health and Ageing. The Minister toured the Centre on August 29 and heard about the work of the Centre and its collaborators. Full Story
