Presbyopia researchers win J. Lloyd Hewett Award for Excellence (11/30/2009)
Three researchers from the Vision Cooperative Research Centre (Vision CRC) have received the prestigious J. Lloyd Hewett Award for Excellence for 2009, awarded by the peer-reviewed scientific journal ‘Clinical and Experimental Optometry’, for the best paper published in the journal over a three-year period. Landmark Survey Uncovers Indigenous Eye Health (9/28/2009)
The rate of blindness in Indigenous adults is more than six times higher than non-Indigenous Australians, national survey results announced today by the Governor General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, revealed. The National Indigenous Eye Health Survey was undertaken by Prof Hugh Taylor AC, Harold Mitchell Chair of Indigenous Eye Health, at the University of Melbourne, in collaboration with the Centre for Eye Research Australia and Vision CRC. Established in July 2003, the Vision CRC was the recipient of an Australian Cooperative Research Centres (CRC) grant of $32 million – the highest grant ever given under the Commonwealth Government’s CRC programme. Vision CRC mourns brilliant student (12/24/2008)
The Vision CRC mourns the loss of Jerry Chen, a PhD candidate with the Vision CRC, who passed away on the 30th November after a long battle with cancer.
