Six Vision Centres inaugurated (2/9/2008)
The primary eyecare model developed in India by Vision CRC core partner, LV Prasad Eye Institute, is delivering effective eyecare to rural areas. Six new primary care Vision Centres (VC) were inaugurated during April – June 2008, bring the total to 49 VCs providing high quality and sustainable eyecare in rural and underserved urban areas. BPEI Student Wins Innovation Award (3/6/2008)
BPEI PhD student Noel Ziebarth, was recently awarded a Bausch and Lomb Annual Student Innovation Award. This award recognizes innovative research work and its promising utility in the area of vision science and eye health. Noel received the award for her research on the origin of presbyopia, which is part of the Vision CRC Dynamic Vision project. Full Story

Dr Rao Award (12/12/2007)
Dr Gullapalli Rao, Vision CRC Board member and Founder of Vision CRC core partner, the LV Prasad Eye Institute; recived a honorary Doctor of Medicine from the University of Melbourne on December 8. The Centre for Eye Research Australia, another CRC core partner, nominated Dr Rao in recognition of his inspirational work in eliminating avoidable blindness. Full Story

ICEE grant success (10/17/2007)
The International Centre for Eyecare Education, a core Vision CRC participant, has received a new grant to assist in the training of eye health personnel in the Northern Territory. The Eye Health Demonstration Grants Program aims to support the National Framework for Action to Promote Eye Health and Prevent Avoidable Blindness and Vision Loss. Full Story

Bascom Palmer a winner! (7/23/2007)
The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, a key Vision CRC supporting partner, has once again been ranked #1 in Ophthalmology in the United States by US News & World Report in their America’s Best Hospital issue. This is the 4th year in a row the Institute has received this honour, and the sixth time in 13 years. Full Story
